Yoga for Beginners – Starting Doesn’t Have to Be Hard
Have you ever noticed how quickly a day slips by? You wake up, check your phone, rush through work, sit in front of a screen for hours, grab a quick meal—and before you know it, it’s night again. Your head feels heavy, your body feels stiff, and even when you’ve been sitting all day, you still feel like you never stopped moving.
That’s exactly where Yoga for Beginners comes in. It’s not about twisting into complicated poses or forcing flexibility. It’s about slowing down, breathing deeply, gentle stretches, getting your core activated gently, and reconnecting with your body and mind.
Why Yoga for Beginners Hits Different
People often think yoga is about touching your toes or standing on your head. It’s not. It’s about starting exactly where you are and progressing from where you originally are.
At Unika Yoga, we make sure beginners feel at ease and cared for, respecting the pace that beginners require. The classes are unhurried, the movements are simple, and there’s space to just be. You can wobble, laugh, or take a break. Some stretch deeply, some barely move, some require lots of rests in between — and that’s perfectly fine. Honestly, that’s the point. It’s your space and your pace.
What Happens in Class
Just come in comfortable attire, we provide lockers, yoga mats and props. You can just bring a sweat towel and your water bottle. No pressure.
Our Yoga for Beginners classes begin with simple breathing. Then come gentle joints loosening as warm up. The main sequence may comprise simple slow stretches for the body to familiarise with movements. Our instructors also break down the instructions to tiny steps and emphasise on breathing during the movements. There could be simple yoga poses attempted such as Triangle Pose, Pyramid Pose or Child Pose. Nothing intimidating. We understand every individual’s body is different and respect every individual’s pace.
There will be cooling down stretches, and in the last 5 to 10 minutes, you lie down, eyes closed, simply resting. Some people drift off, some just breathe and relax. Many say it’s the first time in ages their minds truly switched off.
When you leave the class, you may feel lighter, less stiff, or your minds calmer. That’s what most of our beginner students say.
