Ashtanga Vinyasa Foundation - 12 Hours

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga created by K. Pattabhi Jois is one among the widely-practised yoga styles. This physically demanding, dynamic style of yoga practice synchronises breath and movement to improve concentration, at the same time, produce an internal heat designed to cleanse the body of toxins. The practice is great for building core strength, increasing flexibility, burning calories, toning the body and increasing mental focus.
Fewer studios offer Ashtanga classes as it is very specialised. It is therefore recommended to attend this 12-hour foundational workshop to learn the fundamentals of Ashtanga. Thereafter, to deepen your practice, you may attend regular Ashtanga Vinyasa or Mysore classes.
Expect to learn the following during the 6-session workshop:
Surya Namaskara A&B (two types of Sun Salutation); standing, seated and restorative poses in the primary series; alignment of poses; correct breathing during the flow; Drishti (gazing points for each pose); Bandha (locks in the primary series sequence).
